How Kicau counts and limits AI feature usage for free accounts and Kicau Pro, explained plainly.

Every time Kiki replies, scores or summarises, there is a real AI computing cost. This policy explains how we keep AI usage fair for everyone and keep Kicau affordable. It is part of the Terms of Service.

1. How we count usage

  • Each request to an AI feature, such as Kiki's replies in Ngobrol, session recaps and AI feedback, is logged with its estimated cost.
  • Those estimated costs are added up per account over a calendar month. So what counts is not the number of messages but how much AI they use: a long message counts more than a short one.
  • The count resets to zero on the 1st of each month at 00:00 WIB (UTC+7).
  • You can see your own AI usage records through Profil > Unduh Data Saya (Profile > Download My Data).

2. Free accounts

Free accounts have a monthly AI usage quota, enough to try the AI features and practise regularly.

When this month's quota runs out, AI features pause until the quota resets at the start of the next month. The app shows when your quota resets. Your progress, scores and completed material stay safe.

To keep using AI features, you can subscribe to Kicau Pro.

3. Kicau Pro

Kicau Pro has a much higher AI usage limit, designed so that reasonable daily practice, even intensive practice, never reaches it. Kicau Pro is not unlimited.

  1. Normal use: every AI feature runs on our standard AI model.
  2. Very heavy use: past a certain level in a month, replies switch to a lighter AI model. Features keep working, but replies may be a little shorter or simpler.
  3. Extreme use: if usage keeps climbing far beyond normal practice, AI features pause until the start of the next month.

Your Kicau Pro subscription stays active through all of these stages. If you think you hit a limit with reasonable use, contact us.

4. What is not counted

  • The placement test when you first start Kicau, so everyone can begin at the right level.
  • Automatic safety checks on the messages you send.

This usage is still logged internally but does not reduce your quota.

5. Per-recording limits

A single recording can be up to 2 minutes and 25 MB. Longer recordings are rejected before upload, so you do not waste your quota or your mobile data.

6. Unfair use

The following breach this policy and may lead to your AI access or account being limited or suspended:

  • using bots, scripts or other automated means to send requests to Kicau;
  • sharing or selling access to a Kicau Pro account;
  • creating multiple accounts to get extra free quota;
  • using Kicau for purposes other than learning English, for example as a general-purpose AI service.

7. Changes to the limits

We review usage limits regularly against AI costs and how people practise. We will not lower Kicau Pro's limit below what reasonable daily practice needs. Significant changes will be announced in the app and the date above updated.
